| Description: | Half of the vines planted for the en Chatenay bottling of Pouilly-Fuissé from the Lafon family were planted in 1980, with the other half having gone into the ground in 1960, so these are all good old vines now. The 2023 en Chatenay is a bit racier and more reserved out of the blocks than the regular bottling, offering up a superb nose of pear, apple, fresh almond, a superb base of chalky soil tones, vanillin oak and a topnote of both apple blossoms and honeysuckle. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and nicely racy in personality, with superb depth of fruit at the core, fine mineral undertow, a lovely spine of acidity and a long, impeccably balanced and nascently complex finish. This really will deserve two or three years of cellaring, just to let it blossom properly. Most impressive. |
